The first station on this trip is the room dedicated to the archaeological discovery of Monte Verde and the aboriginal peoples. There is a reproduction of what could have been the first human settlement in the area and there are also utensils used by the original peoples.
Then comes a room dedicated to navigation, where you can find from the dalca (a boat that dates back to 300 years and whose remains were found in Lake Chapo) to the sword of Admiral Carlos Condell and some pieces that belonged to the Blanco Encalada armored car. There are also replicas of the ships that have traditionally been used on the edge of the sea, such as the schooners, the Chitota boats and the bongo, a boat built with a single piece of tree trunk.
Chiloe religiosity is the theme of the third room, in which some pieces of Santeria from the archipelago are exhibited, as well as kneelers, a tabernacle and a crucifix from 1600. Along with them, a collection of musical instruments is exhibited, usually used by the bands that play the parades in the processions. Below is the replica of the chitote stove-stove, with all the household utensils.
Following the route, the visitor will come across the space dedicated to the founding of Puerto Montt, where an interesting account can be read of how it was that morning of February 12, 1853, when Vicente Pérez Rosales signed the founding act of the new city. Furniture from the period and elements of the German colonization that began that year are observed in the enclosure. Puerto Montt Municipality.
The Puerto Montt of the first half of the 20th century is reflected in the next room. The strength of those years is sadly shattered by the earthquake of May 22, 1960, a fact that is shown through a series of shocking photographs.

Finally, there is the space destined to remember that April 4, 1987, the date on which the Pope, John Paul II, stepped on the ground in Puerto Montt and sailed in the waters of the Reloncaví bosom. The altar on which he officiated the mass that day and the chasuble that he wore are part of the treasures of this room. The visit to the museum ends with the invitation to leave our own mark, our own hand stamped on the museum walls.
