Until this year Abrunhosa-a-Velha belongs to the Municipality of Tavares of which it is simple parish and covered by the foral of this one. After that date, the Municipality of Vila Nova de Abrunhosa-a-Velha was established, with a House of the House, Chain and Court (now Junta da Parish), where the pillory was built; 1836 - suppression of the Municipality of Abrunhosa-a-Velha, returning to integrate the one of Tavares; 1853 - disappears the Municipality of Tavares, that is annexed to Mangualde.
It was built in the year 1762, it is located in Largo with the same name, in the center of Abrunhosa-a-Velha.
It was classified as Property of Public Interest by Decree No. 231222, Government Diary of October 11, 1933.
