Just outside Northumberland National Park, Bridge End Farm offers traditionally decorated accommodation with beautiful countryside views. At the foot of the Cheviot Hills, the original stone farmhouse dates back to the 17th-century and is just 6 minutes’ walk from the centre of Wooler.
A wide choice of breakfast is served in the dining room overlooking the gardens, including a full cooked breakfast with local bacon, sausage and free-range eggs. There is smoked salmon with scrambled eggs, fresh kippers, bacon sandwiches, cereals, yoghurt and toast, with vegetarian and special dietary requirements catered for.
Antique furniture, mahogany beds and feature fireplaces are among the hallmarks of the guest rooms, which have a TV with DVD player, hairdryer and tea and coffee facilities. Bathrooms have a bath or shower with complementary toiletries, and many rooms have views of the river, hills or gardens.
The market town of Wooler features on a number of cycle routes, and is home to a golf club, antique shops, tea rooms and numerous pubs and restaurants. The Scottish border is just 15 miles away, with Berwick-upon-Tweed around 30 minutes’ drive.
